We are going into our third year of working with Nancy and Love Art and Craft, and we couldn’t imagine our school without her team contributing to the outstanding provision at Alban Wood Primary School.

Our Key Stage 2 children have gained a high level of experience during the after school art club. The same children have signed up term after term, being given an opportunity to develop and experiment with their creative and artistic skills. Alongside this new members are continuously discovering art club.

Nancy has also run clay workshops for our younger children in Key Stage 1. Working collaboratively with the team at Alban Wood she planned and ran fantastic workshops that were topic linked. Each child experienced clay, used tools and painted their sculpture. She spent a considerable amount of time preparing and firing the children’s work. They were all absolutely delighted. The workshops greatly aided the continuity of our Art curriculum provision. As a Creative Team we will most definitely be including further workshops for our younger children again this academic year.

Love Art and Craft are now an integral part of the Art provision at Alban Wood and as a Creative Team member and Year 1 class teacher , I would highly recommend them as a way in which young people can be nurtured in the world of Art.”

“It was really helpful that the training was skills based rather than task based. Things I learned could be developed to use with any topic and any age group.”

“Nancy’s training helped me to improve my confidence and understanding of the skills that I need to teach the children. I learned how different mediums can be used in different ways to create different effects.”

“We were apprehensive about the sketching training but i feel far more confident now in my teaching.

“Nancy Cawte has been implementing our After School Art Club at Ashton St. Peters for over two years now.

Not only is she a very experienced and talented art teacher who has successfully taught our children a range of skills, she is also extremely reliable, trustworthy and organised.

The club is extremely popular with our children and provides them with rich opportunities to develop their artistic talents. A range of interesting and exciting activities are provided for the children to enable them to develop skills in pottery, weaving and silk painting for example. The children have produced a number of detailed, beautiful pieces which they are very proud of.

As a Headteacher I would most definitely recommend her services to others.”

“Ryan’s interest in, and focus on, Art has increased dramatically since he joined the class.

He is really enjoying it and beginning to understand that it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t get it right the first time, he can still do some really good work!

The quality of the work we have seen so far is really high and I think he is surprising himself at how well he can do.

Nancy seems very patient and good with the children, encouraging them all the way and not being afraid to support them in pushing themselves a little harder. Thank you Nancy!”

“Never think you are too old or haven’t got the talent to try something new!

I have just spent two happy hours engrossed in a new craft activity – needle felt.

Under the excellent one-to-one guidance of my patient tutor I managed to produce 2 Christmas tree decorations that I am really proud of.

A very relaxing and easily achievable craft for any age or ability – no limits, just let your imagination loose and go for it! I love it, thank you love art and craft!”
